One UI 7.0: Some of our favorite new features
Samsung teased One UI 7 at SDC earlier this month, but the company didn’t really announce much about the next version of its OS. However, we can now show you what will be new in One UI 7.
First off, new icons. This has been shown off many times already, but Samsung is adding icons that will be easier to identify. That’s something Google needs to do now that almost all of its icons look the same.
Samsung is also introducing smart notification management, as well as an enhanced lock screen, which will make it easier to see what’s going on. Samsung has revamped many of the default application icons, including an updated status bar battery icon. It does resemble the iOS battery icon, with the percentage level housed within the small battery icon. The full suite of first-party Samsung apps has received a new lick of paint.

Lots of the colors and core styles have been updated and altered, which might break some muscle memory if you have certain favorites that you open and use daily. The icons are less flat than the previous refresh, adding some new elements and depth. If you don’t use the default suite of Samsung apps, this might not be a problem.
Samsung also seems to have taken some inspiration from Apple Intelligence, as One UI 7 introduces new AI-based features for proofreading and changing text. Unsurprisingly, the text tools panel resembles the Writing Tools panel introduced with iOS 18.1.

With One UI 7, Samsung is also adding new Parental Controls, which can be used to keep your kids safe on the Internet. Parents will be able to let their kids access certain sites and apps and block others. You can also check their physical location, making sure that they are getting home from school safely. Eliminating the need to install apps like Life360.
Samsung is also enhancing a slew of photo features in One UI 7. This includes using Live Effects on your pictures to add depth. You’ll also be able to easily restyle your portraits using AI. There are a number of AI-generated artistic effects available to transform your pictures into ones that stand out on Facebook, Instagram, and X. Using the Pro Visual Engine, Galaxy can use AI Zoom (that’s always learning) to capture clear zoom shots, even at 100x.
