Your Pixel phone’s December feature drop is here
The December feature drop for Pixel phones is here, and it’s bringing some exciting additions. Naturally, a lot of these features are AI-powered.
First up, Pixel phones are getting some nice accessibility upgrades that provide more information and context to videos – in the form of more descriptive captions and in improved image descriptions. In addition, you’ll soon see Gemini compatibility across more apps and Gemini is getting the ability to learn your personality and tailor its responses just for you.

Get super-organized with screenshots
New Pixel Screenshots2 upgrades will help you stay organized during a busy holiday season. For starters, when you’re using Circle to Search3 and find something you like, you can save to Pixel Screenshots with just a tap so you can always find it later — no more lost gift ideas!
And Pixel Screenshots now automatically categorizes your screenshots, so it’s even easier to find exactly what you need with new search filters. When you find what you’re looking for, Pixel Screenshots provides helpful suggested actions based on the information you saved — like creating a calendar invite or getting directions.

Suggested Replies in Call Screen: Gemini Nano on the Google Pixel 9 series can now contextually generate suggested replies in Call Screen. These suggested replies will appear as chips you can tap in the Call Screen view. Call Screen previously let you choose from a set of responses, but they weren’t based on the context of the phone call like they will be now. For example, if you get a phone call about a package being delivered, Gemini Nano can suggest responses to the delivery person’s yes or no questions or ask relevant follow-up questions.
Pixel Screenshots also lets you add tickets or credit cards you’ve screenshot to Google Wallet4 giving you quick access to things like your driver’s license, boarding passes and more in one convenient spot.
And in Gboard, you’ll now see movie, music, product and other text suggestions from your screenshots while searching in relevant apps. Just turn on “Show suggestions from your screenshots in other apps” in the Pixel Screenshots app.
Expressive captions: AI-powered “expressive captions” capture the intensity of emotion of what someone is saying. If you’re watching with captions on, you’ll now see descriptions like [whispering] for a hushed secret, [groaning] for a bad joke, and [cheers and applause] for an excited crowd. These will appear on everything from live content to social media content.
Saved Info with Gemini: You can now ask Gemini to remember your interests and preferences so it can provide more tailored responses. For example, you can tell Gemini that you’re a vegetarian so that it’ll provide you with vegetarian-friendly recipes in the future without you needing to remind it to do so. You can find, edit, or delete any saved info in Gemini’s settings. This feature is available globally in English to users who are 18+ and are subscribed to Gemini Advanced via the Google One AI Premium Plan. You don’t need a Pixel phone to take advantage of this feature.
