iPad mini (A17 Pro) Review: Small iPad, smaller upgrade

The tablet’s great stereo speakers make the most of any videos or games. Its super thin body, sub-300g weight and width that is about the same as an A5 paper pad make the iPad mini really easy to grip, use and fit in bags.
The almost pocketable size makes it an excellent companion at school or on the commute, ready to take notes, play videos or for reading books like a Kindle. Its predecessor found niches with various professions, including hospitality and healthcare, with pilots being particular fans who will no doubt love this one.

The new iPad mini has 128GB storage in its most affordable configuration, which is twice what the last model had. There’s also a model with 256GB storage, like the previous-gen version and, for the first time, an iPad mini with 512GB storage, too.Like before, the iPad mini 7 has a 12MP rear camera, but this time, it’s been upgraded to Smart HDR 4 processing. There’s also now support for Wi-Fi 6E for speedier wireless connectivity.
The only real design change with the new Mini is the colors. Apple’s gone more colorful with a lot of its products this year, and the Mini comes in new purple and blue models. In photos they look muted rather than vivid, though, so don’t expect the eye-popping new colors on the iPhone 16.
