Garmin adds new Strength Coach to more smartwatches in beta update

Garmin has launched public beta version 12.10 for the Venu 3 and vivoactive 5 wearables. This latest update arrives just nine days after its predecessor, version 12.08. The change log for the new software lists three amendments for these smartwatches.

The Garmin Instinct 2 is one of our favorite Garmins, a five-star pick rocking a choice of sizes, tough exterior, great training tools, GPS, and very good battery life – which is why we’re so hyped for the seemingly-imminent launch of the next generation.

Now, it looks like Garmin itself is also gearing up for the release, having accidentally listed the repair costs for a Garmin Instinct 3, and revealing some key new details in the process.

The beta version 12.10 release notes state that there are optimizations for the pool swim activity. However, these were seen in the last two updates, versions 12.06 and 12.08. A new addition with this software is support for the recently launched Garmin Strength Coach. The feature was released earlier this year alongside the Cycling Coach; at the same time, the original Garmin Coach was renamed Running Coach. This tool can be used to generate personalized training programs to match your goals and exercise equipment.

The final change is the upgrade of GCM Translations to version 2.23. You can download Beta version 12.10 by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update.
